My (previous) Passat 4motion Wagon is subject to a class-action lawsuit against VW because of faulty air conditioning housing and leaky moonroof drains. I paid $34,000 and change for this piece of crap in December 2003. It ran fine until about a year ago (2009), then the nightmare began… the air conditioning housing cracked and drained condensate into the passenger floor. This is exactly where VW, in their infinite wisdom, had mounted the transmission control module - which is electronic and WILL FRY if it gets wet. It costs $4,000 plus to get repaired. But all you end up doing is putting a new part in a place that WILL get wet again someday! This is not a fixable problem. We sold the car back to the dealership for $3,000. It had 33,000 miles on it. I HATE VW!!!!!
