So far I have loved driving my Jetta. When I got it, it was a wonderful surprise for my 16th birthday! I am now 22 and since my Jetta has hit the 100,000 mile mark it has had nothing but problems! So far the cupholders have broken (that happened before 100,000 miles). I have no idea who designed the cupholders in the ‘99 Jetta but they failed horribly. They can barely hold a small SMALL cup of water! Back to the transmission stuff: now when I go from a stop to needing to accelerate, the car will not shift (I have an automatic transmission). Instead it will delay and the engine will rev a ton until I feel the transmission slam down and engage then it will lurch forward. This has become a danger for me because when I am trying to pull into traffic I never know when my car will decide not to engage therefore leaving me a sitting duck in the lane with cars honking at me. I am really not wanting to take it into the shop as I do not want to spend more money on this car! I hope I will be able to get a new car and soon.
