The 40K Oil Leak

Name:
State Purchased:
Model Year: 2010
Purchase/Lease Date: 2009

Story:
I purchased in 2009 a 2010 VW JETTA TDI and also bought the extended warranty for this car. Up until 40,000 miles, nothing was wrong with the car. Then I did an oil change to save me some money and time. I took off the cover with 10 bolts to hold it on (figure that one out) and when I looked, it was covered in oil from the main rear oil seal leaking. I continued to change the oil and contacted the dealer who was worthless. They in turned contacted VW corporate, and I fought that they claimed it was a phase 1 leak. The puddle was the size of a 1/2 dollar but still it was enough for concern. I have babied this car and made sure all service was taken cared of. I finally got tired of fighting and cancelled the extended warranty since I couldn’t see using it. Figuring that I would waste $2,500 for the warranty and they wouldn’t honor it. The dealership played dodge game on me and wouldn’t answer questions or deal with all the crap. I am trading this car in for a BMW or whatever other car company I can find that will be honest with its customers. The problem too is that I bought two of these cars and am a loyal customer.
